Hmmm.....that traceroute looks fine to me.

This is why Don and I are working on ping checking/kicking.

No matter what your ping is if you are trying to kill someone who is lagging, you get the "teleport" effect. I presume a laggy player causes cpu spikes as well with all the retransmits the server has to make.

Hmmmm... So what does it mean when I cant trace from my comp to the server? I thought it mean that I was lagging due to a dumpy route/connection on my end...

So what do I do? Everyone typed back to me that they werent lagging when I saw all the teleporting. Even though I could move around smoothly and fire smoothly, it took a long time for the server to catch up to me when I was buying weapons at round start. Everyone still was teleporting so I still think that I have a bad connection along the way to the server somewhere. What do you think, Akooma? Any suggestions? I've called my isp and they cant help. My internet works like normal and I dont experience this problem on most other servers.

Thanks for your help.

Is that Quantum or Strings Theory? I always get the two mixed up. So when is your Unification Theory going to be ready anyways?

Look a butterfly

Yah, I get that "Request Timed Out" thing anyways, and I still ping around 20-35 so all is good. :D

Perhaps we should go back to basics.

Have you checked for spyware, run a defrag, basically done some housekeeping to make sure it's not your CPU having a hard time keeping up?

Absolutely! After this problem persisted for more than a few hours, I ran spy-bot S&D, ad-aware, norton anti-virus, and updated them all (including windows update) before running defrag. Yet, still the slideshow that is bo CS:S PWNS meh.

The reason you cant directly tracert to the server is because of the firewall. Its nothing wrong on either your part, or the servers. Basically, your stopping one hop short of the server, and the difference in latency isnt much.

Man, this is sooooo frustrating. I hope on Monday whomever the connection belongs to goes out to fix it cause I'm still have that lag. I now fear that this problem will not be fixed and I wont be able to play in the moongamers server anymore...

Well,

On your Tracert from the server to yourself, it looks like the longest time was that last hop to yourself.

Interesting that.

Got a router/firewall or something else that might be slowing things down for your network connection?

Our servers are firewalled and the last ping will have no response from the server itself...and you're right SC, his last ping back is a doozy!

I reset my router every morning. I have Service Pack 2. I use service pack 2's firewall. I just started having problems in the past 2-3 weeks. Sometimes i get my ping of 40 and other times it's 200+.

Have you recently installed any new software on your pc?
Been messing with router settings?

#33 @n@rchist

Nope

Have you tried removing the router from the equation?
Plug your pc directly into your modem and see if that affects the pings.

Plugged it directly into the modem and it did not get better it went to the 400+'s.

@n@rchist:
Ok, so it's not the router. Damn.
Funny thing though, when you have the router, Tracert shows that your pc is the longest to respond.

Without the router, it still responds with the same time, but everyone else responds slower.

You might be tempted to call your ISP, and let them know your connection is going down lately. Maybe they can check you connection, see what's going on, and help you figure it out.

Sorry man.

As for you, [USAF]FiGhTaPiLOt:

Perhaps you could give us some useful information, such as your Processor speed, video card make/model, did you install anything before this issue started, and your credit card #.

Wait, what? We don't get paid for this? Ok, scratch that last item.
