There are several ways to see if you have this virus. Many scanners will not pick up a rootkit.

See if you can update Windows via windows update. If you can not see if you can download ANYTHING from Microsoft. Also many anti-virus programs can not call for updates and tell you that you need to be connected to the internet. Your Windows restore points will be corrupted as well. IF you use any zip/flash. or other plug in drives these are one of the ways this can spread. Those drives can be infected as well.

If the above applies to you then you do have this virus. There are a few rootkit virus scanners out there that work. Goggle for them as I can not recommend one over another as each machine is different and one may work great for me and not work at all for you.

This April 1st hit date is bogus as well. Many machines have been infected before that date. This virus has at LEAST 4 variants that are known.
