Prices are from newegg.com
G5 - $45.99
G7 - $67.99

Those prices are higher in retail stores.

One other this to look at is what you would rather have. The G5 has a weight cartridge, the G7 doesn't.

If I take out the cartridge I move the mouse faster. Though something to think about.

whats the problem ive had to g5's a g7 a 518 diamond back copperhead ive usedthe g9 (its a block literly) ive used the death odder...

what do you want to know usha needa be more specific man iu can help ya if you say that lol.....

and btw its a proven fact if your gamer and your useing a wireless you have a 20% to 40% decrease in accuracy because of the way the mouse has to talk to the usb port rather then haveing a single thick data path to travel (thus increaseing the interpolling dpi)

those that use a copperhead understand directly becuase you see and feel it if you change it from a 1000hz to 250hz.

So for those that have used a cooperhead and a G5/G7, which one is better? I've used a G5 for about a year now and really liked it.

it really all depends on pref honestly nico, the copperhead is long and slender and prety light, the g5-g7 are the same thing little difference but nothing to the point i made me not like it excet the fact its a wireless.

thing about the copperhead. (pro's cons in my mind)

copperhead

pros.

very accurate (tracks well)
prety nice grip
mouse feet are durable
interpolling (before the g5 was a key, now logitech has it to so meh.)
light (if you like lighter mice)
usb is gold plated (more conductivity)
fairly large data path (more information could travel if you oc'd the usb port, this again before the g5)

cons.

to light for some users
did like moisture at all (would quit working unless i cleaned it)
the rubber texture rubbed off easy after a while
interpolling had to be done manually
no weight system (theres one but it voids your warrenty)
short life span
maybe to long for some users hands (VERY LONG MOUSE!)
laser really hated my everglide mouse mat.

G5

pro's

firmware adjustable interpolling
dpi adjustable (very handy on the fly)
designed for short fat hands :)
weight adjustable
newer ones have 2 side buttons (i have a gen 1 with 1 button)
3 adjustable dpi
has a nice texture and tuff to ware off.
laser tracks everything.

cons.

none for me really.
wish it had a gold plateing and the second button.

I have a G7 and my suggestion is to buy the G5. The G7 is very accurate and smooth just like the G5. It has no cord, which is a plus for some users, but the first one I had broke after 6 months give or take. The charging base wouldn't charge the batteries. I received a replacement free of charge. It was working fine until last week. The left mouse button doesn't react quick enough or at all sometimes. A known problem with the G7 is the batteries don't hold a good charge after a extended period of time, which happened on both my G7s. I'm looking to buy a new mouse soon and my first choice is going to be the G5 year 2007 model. It has two thumb buttons instead of one. Also the G9 looks very interesting; although, I might have to take it for a test drive.
