I haven't played in awhile due to RL stuff but I'd like to weigh in on this issue......

1. The elimination of the nades would only benefit those that are GREAT at infantry. Some of us don't have the side to side Thompson headshotting strafe down pat or the dolphin diving brilliance to exploit internet lag. That's where nades come in; most dolphin divers and side to side thompson experts can't stand em. It levels the playing field some to keep the population of the server up.

2. No doubt it would certainly encourage camping of houses, windmills, etc where you can't get the guy without that well placed grenade. Guys would just sit at the top of stairs, dusting anyone trying to take em out.

3. How the heck would you EVER get up either ramp on Omaha without a couple well placed nades to take out the tanks and expackers? It's already really difficult to do it and without nades, it would be nearly impossible.

4. TDM nights. Get yer fill of no nades there.

The K 98 would also force them to actually shoot on middle and long distance instead of simply throwing their nades 100 yards. Would be a brand new gaming experience for a lot of players...

Also we could have a Berlin zook only fest day. We used to have that on nateos public server back in the day and i can only tell u that it is a experience to remember. 64 players zooking across Berlin = most fun ever


PS. It doesnt need to be a day just 1 round would be enough :)

one way to reduce nades is to give the mp18 back to use, the tommy is not good at long distance on those maps and that is when people use the nades the most.

I'm all up for less nades/longer nade reload. Especially on Stalin/Berlin. Mods should have a peak at un_berlin. Very long time since I played it, but I remember it enhanced the gaming experience significantly on Berlin.

I also agree with Rapid regarding the spawn time. It's really a pain in the ass when trying to grey out a flag.

Other suggestions:
- install antibasecamping system
- limit no. of snipers to 4-5 per map

nades can be our only hope
there is much skill possible with nade
some people like spam (even eating it ! )

no "nadespam" rules can be antigaming
and they cant be reliably enforced

so maybe ammo crates can be the problem (no crate no spam?)

maybe more apcs and crates turned off
could put the fun back in spam

It's not that I dislike playing infantry in general. I would stay out of armor more often if there wouldn't be such an overuse of grenades and expacks. Not only from high pingers, but also from very skilled low pingers. Anyone who tells me ping wouldn't matter much has no clue. When I play on Euro servers (on one with a 20 ping), I hit what I'm aiming at, almost like in single player.

I have a ping above 100 here, and I am not very talented when it comes to gun fights. That makes it very hard to win those fights. Not the problem. I don't mind to get shot by a better opponent. But it is very frustrating if even the good gun fighters use explosives in such an excessive way, especially in medium and close distance. Even if they would win 9 out of 10 fights (or more) anyway, a lot of them prefer to nade or expack.very often. When I see some of the best guys in the server throwing explosives on the ground and then running away instead of using pistol or knife in one vs one close combat situations, I simply think "screw it, that is no fun, back to tanking". It also delivers the "I have high ping, I have to use explosives everytime" excuse to those who are not located in the US. I could also do that, but I simply don't want to.

Getting killed by grenades or expacks is not the issue and part of the game. But only to a certain degree. On a lot of maps, they are so overused, most of what you will hear are grenade explosions. Throwing grenades has become so excessive, a lot people don't simply use one, they automatically use several. There are several grenades exploding even if the guy is dead or the tank is destroyed since 5 seconds. It has become an automatism to throw all grenades before the first bullet gets used, which also leads to a lot of teamkills.

That is why I still think that the reload time should be increased, or the number of explosives should be limited, or the number of ammo boxes should be removed. Or whatever is possible to reduce the grenade rain.

Sorry but in wars even the greatest soldier could be killed by a bomb, mine, nade etc... therefore
is part of the game also.

What is not cool is nade spamming but so far Ive seen a great admins work kicking spamers.

Good infantary also die.... do you know ?

in nadefights theres simply no skill involved. u just throw em (cant even cook em like in dods) and hope ur enemy doesnt kill u until he dies in your naderain. if u wanna play like this, u can just roll dices instead...its pure luck...ok you have to aim where u put ur grenade,but thats not that difficult..even new guys know how to use nades after 1-2 rounds.

in general its just no serious competition,which is,i guess why you start to play a game in the beginning. ergo nades are just useless gimmicks to bring noobs some kills,who normally would LEARN how to use a gun after some time, if nades werent such a joke in this game, but instead of this they keep using their nades because their simply IMBA to guns

Hi Anger, yes i did got the point, but as an old player of this game, ive saw tons of posts
about this in many forums, so far ive just seen servers where they have deleted nades and others, most of them
leave it as they are.

But I still think that nade complaining come only from players that "think" or "feel" they are too
good to be killed and hate nades (like mines or pilots) cause they get they loved kdr afected.

In my opinion nades should stay as they are and just control spaming. I hope now is clarified what I
meant. Sorry if still does not :unsure:

short term population is paramount .....

keep dreaming bout nade reduction .... aint gonna happen ... the spiritual rookies love nades ... so the nades stay untouched


bf3 moon server example : leet players suspected but not proven of hacking get perm banned because noobs don't like to get pwnd repeatedly.

beg to differ, it is an opinion. they're part of the game. feel like this has been argued since the game was invented. We've all learned to deal with them in our own way, along with other aspects of the game that tend to piss off some players. I say, grab your umbrella and hold on for the ride. It's a game :) I'm for keeping them in.

Im a bit nader myself (no spam). But i dont mind if there where only 2 nades/person.

But to be fare, i think that nades belong to citymaps, and omaha.

Your warped perception on this is disconcerting, to say the least. And, even if your statement was true, who are you to speak for a group you aren't a part of? Simply put: grenades are an issue that need to be fixed on specific maps, it isn't a matter of opinion.

Hey Creamzor, chill for a second, no need to atack me for my opinnion, I just giving my perception
as you (only that) well stated. I acept the game as is, developers gave 03 nades to players, and Ive
stated that before as most complaints regarding nades come from players that allways play as infantary.

Me for example, I play when can as Pilot/engeneer, and can´t care less for nades and when I am at a
infantary map also never complaint about it, game is like it is and if you acept it is part of the game
that even that you are a "skilled" infantary player can be killed by a nade all this thread become
unnecesary.

And at last, if you intended to make me feel bad by stating "speak for a group you aren't a part of"

I know that at atual remaining servers still running and with mi ping can´t expect much of my infantary game and I can
live with it, i have evolved to another options in the game, like tanker, pilot etc.

We simply can't make everyone happy. That being said, we're looking at reducing grenades to 2 per player and slowing the reload by a few seconds in order to slow things down. New players rely on nades rather than shooting, it has reduced the server to a noobfest at times.
