Negative :

  • Too many World players compared to Usa players from the very start.
  • World players had to switch to Usa to compensate for that – a disaster !
  • By this the event failed ... The basic concept of Usa versus World was broken right from the beginning.
  • Round 2 - Aberdeen was almost unplayable 30 World players vs 20 USA players.
  • The event – in reality ended after the two first maps … at the third map – coral … only 25 players were left.
  • I had to talk to people in xfire, teamspeak, do admining etc ... and barely played those two “real rounds” ... that sucked ..!
  • I had to switch to the undermanned Usa team to help them out !
  • Players were mixed up on the teams each time we entered a new map ... and I had to ask people to switch to their correct side and then restart the map before we could start playing .... Quite a fun-breaker for everybody.
  • Server load was 160% when most players – 55 were on ... and 130 % to 160 % during the two first rounds. My server simply wasn't powerful enough. One of my four-core pc's got software issues one day before the event, and i sadly had to switch to a 2.5 ghz core 2 duo rig.
  • I thought I took 20+ screenshots of the player roster and end results ... but they have disappeared ... grrr !

Positive :

  • 55 players when population topped.
  • General skill level and intensity were way higher than usual public server gameplay.
  • First round on Wake was awesome in my opinion. Probably some of the most intense fighting I have ever seen.
  • Playing only one round on each map was much more fun that two dull long rounds on the same map in match 1.
  • Cool team feeling ... World / Europe against Usa.
  • In those two first “real” rounds ... Usa got totally beat up .. in ur face damn cowboys

Summary ….

The concept of these matches / this format is DEAD ….. it cannot be done. I have now busted my ass twice for this and it isn’t possible to keep two “clean” and balanced teams even for two hours.
people log off all the time … making teams unbalanced … and the team that has the huge ping disadvantage is pretty much SCREWED.

There are too few players left in the BF1942 community for these kinds of matches ... Recruiting has been absolute hell. 90% of all Euro clan people that i have spoken to, regard these events as an absolute joke. They have their still functioning Clan community : Bf-league.eu, and are contempt with that. They see this as the biggest noob / amateur show on earth.
I have tried twice now. But like I have said before ... those 2-3 hours of entertainment isn't worth it. It may seem fun to some of you to pop in and play one hour of fun-match, but organizing this is a big waste of time. I'm done with arranging this.

Thanks all for showing up ... I hope you had fun ...

And by the way :

WORLD 1

USA 1

Seems like that will be the end result.

We've gone over in the past that using the term "Match" for this event was getting backlash from clanners. When you use the term "match" for something this large, no one will take you seriously because all comp veterans know the term match as a 8v8 or 5v5 game, and not 20vs20. There is a lot of strategy going into a 8v8, and an entirely different mentality. In hindsight, the term "pug" would have been much more accepted, and probably plenty much easier to recruit with. Everyone knows that a pug is just a few hours of lots of people having fun. Keeping the USA vs World would have worked fine too.

Either way, it's in hindsight and nothing can be done now.

Is it true you changed the rules in the middle of a round? Time running out and you extended it just to skew the final results and now you talk your garbage? <_< You know my patience is running thin with you.

World players had to switch to Usa to compensate for that – a disaster !
- Wouldn't really call it a disaster.

Round 2 - Aberdeen was almost unplayable 30 World players vs 20 USA players.
- Aberdeen was the most playable and enjoyable round imo.

The event – in reality ended after the two first maps … at the third map – coral … only 25 players were left.
- Ofc

Players were mixed up on the teams each time we entered a new map ... and I had to ask people to switch to their correct side and then restart the map before we could start playing .... Quite a fun-breaker for everybody.
- What? That is how the game works. Everyone who has played matches are used to this and it can be a nice little break before you get started. I don't see it as a fun-breaker. lol?

Server load was 160% when most players – 55 were on ... and 130 % to 160 % during the two first rounds. My server simply wasn't powerful enough. One of my four-core pc's got software issues one day before the event, and i sadly had to switch to a 2.5 ghz core 2 duo rig.
- That's unfortunate

55 players when population topped.
- Pretty nice

First round on Wake was awesome in my opinion. Probably some of the most intense fighting I have ever seen.
- Meh. Pretty bad map-choice for a pug like this.

Tbh you kinda set yourself up for failure with some of the choices you made for maps and settings. If you would have listened to some of the advice offered from more experienced players, perhaps it would have been a more successful event. Still it wasn't too bad.
And I think that probably 50% of World team was people who play in clans, so no need to say that there wasn't any support from that side.

I guess there could easily be made similar events like this. There could be shuffling of the teams, so there would be low/high ping on each side and we could maybe get to know each other better.

- Good job setting it up though. It is always appreciated when something is done that can benefit the community.

you are just annoyed that the americans got their asses kicked in this match ... and now you try blaming me for that.

dude ... you weren't even there and thus don't have the full picture .... you have almost no idea what was going on in that match ...

the euros were supreme in numbers and had the ping advantage too... plus .. loads of highly skilled euro clanners showed up in the last minute and played those first two "real" rounds.

i actually played on team usa most of the match to help the americans out and balance the teams, and told some euros to switch permanently to team usa ... which about 4 players did ... i also kicked several euros for not putting on tags ... i could have let them stay ... but kicked them to balance the teams.

if i influenced the results in any way, it was definitely in favor of the americans ... if i hadn't done anything, half team usa would have left between round and two.

the match was in reality over after round two which held 50+ players ... in round three, 25 players were left, and in round four - ohama, only 13 players were left from the initial 55 people ....

round three and four didn't even count as "official results"

i could have shut down the server after round three, but we continued to play just for fun and friendliness .... and this was where i extended the time several times .... not to skew any results, but because it was the last map and because we had fun on that map.

"Dude" you conveniently change rules to suit your obsessive need to "win" so in reality changing the rules in order to win isn't a real win at all that is called a setup. The only thing that annoys me is your mouth. You did well getting players to show up, other than that you are just a sad obsessive little child and I am done with you.
