The reason I want to go with the 4200+ is that I have a use for a 4ghz+ cpu. A program that I can somewhat use right now recommends a 4-5ghz cpu. I only have a single core 3500+.

A 4200 is not a 4ghz chip...

And what program is that?

I was wondering the same thing...

Pcsx2

So I have to Google to get the answer anyways...

EDIT: You would have loved the old Amiga computers and the stuff we did with them. They emulated anything out there, with the right software and interface...

I know that the 4200+ is not a 4Ghz cpu, but it runs like one.

heres a heatsink table of performance,

theres no 4 GHz cpu in market yet, and I dont think you can reach it without water cooling with any available CPUs..... IBM is about to put out new line of servers with quadrocore CPUs with high clock 4-6 GHz, but they will be expensive, even for server market they're gonna be expensive

From what I understand, for example my athlon 64 3500+, even though it only runs at 2.2Ghz it run like it's at 3.5Ghz.

Even this site says that my cpu runs like a 3.5Ghz: http://www.systemreq...referrer/srtest (site for checking if a game will work on your system)

I know that's not the best place to get that sort of info, but I have been using Athlon since the XP1800+ and I understand the fact that even though they have a lower real speed they, run at the speed that's in the name.

Thus, even though the 4200+ has the same raw speed that I have right now, it will run like a 4.2Ghz cpu. That alone should let me use that EMU, even though I plan to O/C the thing and get better speed out of it. Not saying that I intend to go crazy with the O/C, but I would like to see what it does with all of my games and EMUs. Not to mention that fact that I'll be going from a single core to a duel core, that in and of it's self should do wonders to my system.

Now I do know that the highest cpu you can get is just around 3Ghz, but following the knowledge I have about AMD cpus, the highest you can get is actually 6Ghz(Athlon 6000+, real speed 3Ghz).

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know that much about PC stuff, but I do know a bit.

:edit: here's what that site says about my cpu:

You Have: 2.32 GHz Performance Rated at 3.50 GHz

See what I'm talking about?

You have a link anywhere about Pcsx2 that states what the system requirements for it are? I can't be assed to try and chase it down.

Oh, and that System Requirements link is crap. I like how it says my [email protected] ghz is performance rated at 5.7 ghz. Sorry but,
