I started getting connection problems in BF1942 today.  Yesterday it was all running fine.

It happens once or twice every couple of minutes and lasts around 5-10 seconds then goes away making it all pretty unplayable.

I pinged the server and there obviously seems to be a problem.  I have already tried rebooting my router by switching it off at the wall numerous times, but it hasn't helped.  Does this just look like an ISP issue?

It may have been a local/regional issue. I checked the firewall, you're not in it. Resources appear to be fine on the server and the ping graph is smooth as a baby's butt.

Hmm.  Yeah, definitely seems to be something my end.  Sadly the issue hasn't gone away but it does vary a little in frequency.  Any steps I can take to try to troubleshoot the problem?

Bump. Went into game today and, as is the case fairly often during my ISP's peak times, my ping is way high and jumping around (200-400). That said, I still have the original issue where I get connection problems every ~10 minutes for about 5-10 seconds. I rarely lose connection completely but it's obviously a big inconvenience (especially when flying).

Something to note: These issues only started after I got an upgrade in my internet package with my ISP. They gave me fibre optic and provided a new router which could be the cause of the problem. Also, I used to ping around 120 on this "new" server (not the old Virginia server where I pinged 90-120). Luose and a couple of other UK players I've seen currently ping 120 to 130 - they're all with different ISPs. My average ping when I have the best/most stable connection of the week is around 165-185.

Here's a tracert. Any idea what could be causing my problems? FYI, I use a wireless connection and play within 10 feet of the router (which is just the other side of a fairly thin wall).

You have probably already thought of this, but any chance you can cable to your router. I lost all faith in a consistant wireless connection several years ago and for the last 4 years or so I have always been cabled in and not had a problem.

Sorry but I just wanted side note this. ZANYO.Com since its merger with above, net, an IPO and massive replacement to upgrade their fiber optic hasn't been a friend to the gaming industry. The crap ping times in TEXAS are shown on your trace-rt, dfw2 or Dall Fort Worth is a like a log jam.

I had kinda similar issues in the last days.

Not my usual, pretty randomly occuring disconnects, but the massive freezing you mentioned. Same time frame you mentioned (5 - 10 sec) which made me wonder if I get disconnected or if my system will crash, but no issues afterwards.
