Everytime I download a patch or install a mod on my bf1942 folder, in the Setup it says Bf1942 not found. I' m 100 percent sure bf1942 is on that folder. It happens all the time, and cant figure out why.

I tried to download the patch for moongamers server and on the Setup it says no bf1942 folder found. How in the world is that possible? Always something missing, sigh...Any ideas

Hi Aventura and welcome back!

The reason it happens it because of your anti-virus. Please disable it COMPLETELY and re-download.

The file your downloading changes your HOSTS file. This HOSTS file controls the way you search the internet.

Located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc on WINXP

Hey shavo, Its not an Antivirus, I don't think.

The directory the Gamespy patch is going to is, C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 1942

That's where my bf1942 is, and its specifically where it says, Mods/bf1942

Tried both and patch always says, no bf1942 found, which is what I don't get. Tried other patches and they are extracted with Winwar which is easy. The Gamespy patch one is the only one that looks like a setup to install bf1942. All the other patches are fast. Anyway still doesn't work, Oh and the link you posted is broken. It says "404 File or Directory not Found."

Let me start over. tell us the name of the patch first. When you wrote cant connect I assumed the hosts file patch from the axforums

Turn off antivirus, read this:

http://forum.bf1942.....php?f=6&t=1813

Install HOSTS tool [modify's your host list to direct you to the server list]

http://forum.bf1942....spy_patcher.exe

ORIGAN PATCH:

http://forum.bf1942....gamespy-fix.zip

Gamespy doesn't exist for BF42 so someone made this own list.!

See ya on battlefield,!

Welcome back Zipper, I'll put this into a PM for you as well. But if you cannot get a server list up, you can always try searching for the server using the IP

which is 64.120.56.204:14567

Best of luck

'1942 not found' sounds more like a 'copy and paste' install or a failed torrent install.

When installing 1942 abandonware make sure that it is BF1942 abandonware and includes the gamespy patch.  Download from a reputable source who is affiliated with a 1942 gaming server...  or just use this one.

Battlefield 1942 (prepatched) abandonware
