Hey guys, this is K£V|N, or now §Åtan. As of last Saturday, I saw in my favorite server list in bf1942 Moongamer's main server (not the other 2) had 9999 ping. It looked like it was down, you know? I asked some people on xfire why it was down and I was surprised to hear that for them, it wasn't. As I could no longer connect to the server, I removed it from my favorites. I then tried searching for it again, several different ways actually (by name, map, etc.) It doesn't show up at all. For example, if I type in Moon under name, the two other moongamers servers come up but not this main one. I typed the IP into the add server tab, it couldn't find the server. I found the server on Gamespy, and I tried to direct connect from there. I didn't get past the very first screen, and I got the "Failed to connect to server" message after being brought back to the list of servers.
Basically, I can't even so much as find the server's name within bf1942. When I try connecting through outside sources like Gamespy or Xfire friends who are playing on the server, I get the "Failed to connect to server" message every time. Also, on Xfire when a friend is on the server, clicking on them won't show the server. It just has the trying to request server information message. It isn't a firewall thing, I actually have completely turned off my firewall in an attempt to connect to the server. The server worked fine Friday night, stopped working on Saturday. I hadn't changed anything between those times.
Moongamers is my favorite public server to play on. I love the gameplay, the community, and the admins. In my opinion, it is the most ideal public server I've played on with some of the nicest people as well. I'd really love to get back to playing on your server. Please help me fix this problem!
Thanks in advance,
Kevin, aka Satan

Didn't you already have a forum account or two?

Nope, just this one. Although when I created this account I tried to make my username "Kevin" and the name was already taken, so maybe that's wha you're thinking of. But any ideas for my problem?

Have you done anything recently that would be against the rules? For instance, nade spam, chat spam, disrespecting other players or attempting to talk players into leaving the server?

No, I try to be as respectful of the rules and polite as possible. I don't think I have any enemies there either. The server doesn't even show up for me; if I were banned I would see the server but would be unable to connect. I cannot even see the server on the list. I'm really convinced this is a technical issue. Please help.

And Lin, as far as asking Lecter to go to a different server... I didn't own the server I asked him to go to, I din't have admin there- we just wanted to play more stalingrad as the game of stalingrad at Moon was just ending. I wasn't advertising another server. Also, I didn't realize I was breaking the rules. None of the admins on duty - and there were several - said anything. I assumed it was perfectly fine. Am I banned for that? If I am, I can assure you it's not necessary. It's a simple matter of just letting me know that what I did was against the rules. I won't do it again; it's not an issue. But again, I'm sure this is a technical issue as I can't even see the server, much less enter it.

It really doesn't matter whether or not you own the server, does it?

Looks like your tracert went through to the server.

So by the looks of this, I SHOULD be seeing the server?

Oddly enough, after I did the tracert the server now works fine. Really wierd. Thanks for the help DerRaucher!

"Advertising rules have now been relaxed due to the age of the game and the fact that the health of the game itself depends upon the health of all clans/communities still around. Advertising is now allowed but we prefer that it is restricted to asking for player xfire names, and brief mention in the server. Please do not carry on lengthy advertising or recruiting discussions in the server."

Why is asking other players to go to a different server against the rules? In fact, there's not a single mention of a player asking another player to go to a different server even in the rules.

It wasn't a lengthy discussion. It was 2 lines of chat.

It was recruiting a player from our server. Period.

You can try to rationalize it all you like, it is not something you wish to do on our servers.
