to my knowledge it works fine. i tihkn its everything above a 8500 (except 9200/9250) that will run BF2.

yeppp...9250 definately doesn't work...
Note to self: consult supported video drives before buying video card.

I have and use 9250 for bf2. I'm not sure if it works on the 1.2 patch though.

Supposably, the 9200 series will no longer function with the new patch. You will lag a lot and see black patches everywhere supposably.
Although I must say that EA did a good job on minimizing the Loading time and doubling the FPS on most servers. I get on average 35 fps, but today I got a magnificent fps of 85.
And I run a 9600 series.

Here is some info on the 9200 series of ATI chipsets. I had a 9200 back in June when the game came out, and the demo would not work. I got to the "Do you want a Multiplayer or Singleplayer" screen, and then I couldnt even move the mouse. The entire computer locked up and I had to reboot, I didn't even know there was background music or that movie playing, none of it showed.

Eventually there was a program that allowed you to use these lower-end cards to run BF2, and it disabled tecture shaders, and it resulted in a game with VERY smooth textures, nearly like a hack. The downside to this, is that PB considered this a hack, and if caught by screenshot you will get a global GUID ban. Don't use any program like this, buying a new card is better than having to buy a new game copy too.

My current 9600XT will average abount 40-50 FPS on Oman with all medium settings, distance 100%, and dynamic light/shadows at Low, no AA. If I switch this all to Low I can manage about 60-70FPS even in an intense firefight in Karkland. (Okay Karkand, just messing). You don't need a top-of-the-line $400 card, or even a $200 card to get good performance. This 9600XT ran my about $100 back in July, and I'm sure you can get much better much cheaper today. Be warry of the "SE" edition of cards with dumbed down clock cycles. If possible choose something like a x600XT over a x800SE, it will have better performance, and the cost will be very-slightly lower. I don't really want to go into details over things like this, as it would take many diagrams and powerpoints to explain. ^_^

I still don't get what AA is supposed to do.
The last time I set it, it made my graphics as shitty.

 ...yup I do too. I don't know why EA said that it wouldn't be able to run the game. I'm still thinking of buying a new one though. :cowdance: :cowdance: :cowdance:
