Yep, steam can be very frustrating... but it is a pretty sweet bit of technology sometimes. Mike, You can also go to steampowered.com and download the installer, run it and repair your installation.
Steam sucks...

I haven't reinstalled Steam since my reformat and I'm scared to. The only problem is that I can't play DoD now.

I finally figured out what my issue was. For some reason it was set to run in compatability mode for XP SP2, but the latest Steam update needed to run something as a service under Vista. Since it was in compatibility mode it wasn't installing or running the service properly. Once I made that change it's been like buttah. It only took me like 6 weeks to figure it out...

Yeah, the last few sets up updates are bad...you see people connect then disconnect (no steam login ID) all the time now (on several servers). Very strange and frustrating...indeed...
