Hey everyone.

Windows ten is out today. Which is better for battlefield 1942?

What say you...

I'll tell you when I get my laptop fixed and then upgrade. My laptop has been getting worse and worse.

I heard with windows 10 the whole OS is more online. The personal files you have aren't as 'safe' anymore.

Upgraded to Win 10 last night.  Managed to at least start 1942 and get in the server.  The resolution was all wack though (could barely read chat), and if I tried going out to the game menu, it crashed.

Seems pretty unstable.  I'm guessing that Windows doesn't like 1942 spontaneously changing the computer resolution, which may be part of the problem.  I'll do some testing with it.

EDIT #1: Compatibility mode settings were reverted on my BF1942 executable.  Once they were reapplied for XP SP3 and running as admin, I was able to do everything I used to be able to do.  So far so good!

Are you running the Origin version or the disc version?  I was running the Origin version and needed to run Origin as administrator first.

Ran the CD version today with no problems (after I set it to run as admin with Win XP SP3 compatibility mode)

CD version seems to work great for me. I liked how the windows 10 upgrade even kept my open tabs in the web browser I was using when I went to launch it for the first time. Have a few non game issues with windows 10 though, that they will hopefully resolve soon.

Capt Squirrel, Win10 is great for presonal use, web browsing, user and social interface as well as device connection. But as far as privacy.... You need to be aware of what runs in the background.

I have a XP and WIn7 for BF42. Funny, XP runs better but WIn7 is smoother with the right tweeks.

In conclution your answer for the best WINOS for BF42 IMHO is WIn7.

Hi Hassan,

What exactly is happening? Do you get an error message? Is it during installation that it fails or just when you try to join a multiplayer game?

What message are you getting Gomer? Or does it just crash to desktop? Or is the issue that you're not seeing the server list?

Try a complete uninstall. Then a registry cleaner.  You will need direct play for windows ten. Windows 10 should ask you for this.  Also set compatibility mode to windows xp service pack 3 and run battlefield as administrator  Battlefield does not like any fragmentation. So defragment your drive. Try it . Let us know.
