Info below as of 2/21/2022

As of a few hours ago, aX's BF1942 master server has gone offline.

 

sIMPLE is working on a new master server. Until then:

 

- when in your in-game browser, use REFRESH and not UPDATE (which will freeze your screen).

 

Henk at sIMPLE made a workaround:

open c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
delete all lines that contain master.gamespy.com or master.bf1942.sk
then add these lines to the bottom:
143.176.207.225 master.gamespy.com
143.176.207.225 master.bf1942.sk
```
If you do this you will be able to update your server list.
Do this at your own risk. (backup your hosts file in the case that ssk's master-server is back up)

 

Keep checking in, as we will try to keep this updated with breaking information. 

 

Admins and players, please keep spreading information to others to keep using REFRESH and not Update, and that it's being worked on, and to check whatever forum site you are members of. Spread the word to other servers as well, we're all in this together!

Does the first line (highlighted) just mean this fix works for those without CD installation? Any idea?

I think it just means it includes a no-CD patch (i.e. the ability to run the game without the physical 1942 disks or ISOs in virtual drives) 

 

Should not be relevant for 99% of the players at this point since most of them installed from Abandonware or SiMPLE which already include a no-CD patch

Also note if you did use Henk's earlier HOSTS file changes, the 143.176.207.225 IP address is deprecated and will be going away.

 

Henk's primary master server is now hosted at 162.19.137.251, which is also the IP address you see master.bf1942.org resolving to.

 

If you've installed the BF1942.EXE patch, then it's already resolving master.bf1942.org and is already using the correct address.

 

But if you're still relying on the HOSTS file changes, be sure and update to the new IP address to avoid disruption.

 

The same goes for servers too: If you haven't patched the server binary to use master.bf1942.org to register, be sure the HOSTS has the latest IP address.
