Hello, all. A belated Happy New Year.

I upgraded my PC to WIndows 10, 64 bit and reinstalled the EA Battlefield 1942 World War II anthology. I know EA no longer supports the game (right?) and I found, as expected, I cannot get to current servers.

Do I need a patch? When I hit the game icon on my desk it says it needs BF1942.exe to launch and the file is on my hard drive. Hitting yes or no makes no difference.

Any help would be appreciated. I have seen similar questions, but wanted to be sure I had the latest instructions.

Gracias -- SIR

Hey, TSTY,

Everything you need can be found here:

https://drive.google...cEJsVEFwZGZKMlk

After installing the game via the CDs, I would download the files below from the Google Drive link and install in the same order.  The non-bold are the names of the folders within that Google Drive link.  The bold are the file names that you should download.  Skip any steps you've already done:

  1. Expansion Packs folder > Road to Rome > Battlefield_1942_The_Road_to_Rome.zip - (you will need to unzip this to your desktop and then install the .exe within)
  2. Expansion Packs folder > Secret Weapons > Battlefield_1942_Secret_Weapons_of_WWII.zip - (same as above)
  3. Patches > battlefield_1942_gamespy_patch_v1.61.exe
  4. Patches > battlefield_1942_incremental_patch_v1.6_to_v1.61b.exe
  5. Patches > battlefield1942 all in one patch up pack for windows xp win vista win 7 win 8 win 10

Once you have installed all of that, you can right click your BF1942 shortcut, select the Compatibility tab at the top and then check the box that says "Run this program in Compatibility Mode for:" and from the drop down menu select one of the Windows XP Service Pack options.  At the bottom of the compatibility tab, you should also tick "Run this program as an administrator".

Also, see this thread for creating a shortcut to skip the intro videos to the game and connect you directly to your favourite servers:

Thanks, Dodgem! I am fairly computer illiterate but will follow your steps. What do you mean by install in the same order? As in the list you gave?

Will holler if I have any issues.

Yeah. Essentially do all those steps in that order. Skip anything you've already done.

When I try to download data bin, I get this. Thoughts?

Can't scan file for viruses
"data.bin" (858.9MB) exceeds the maximum file size that Google can scan. This file might harm your computer, so only download this file if you understand the risks

Also, battlefield.exe setup wants to reinstall the game, though I did that myself earlier. Is that right? And that is where it said I could not continue because of no data.bin, which gave me the lovely waning above.

OK, I was able to use the Google Drive files and finally go game to play, but no Internet connection. Can't get to MoonGamers. Read this, but hasn't server number changed for Origin?

I put this in the target line and could get no connection: "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 1942\BF1942.exe" +restart 1 +joinServer 64.120.56.204

Says path and file name need to be correct.

just put +restart 1 in program file not the (+joinsever 64.120.56.204) when you sign on then you put 64.120.56.204 at top to put the sever IP address in

the +restart 1 is to avoid the little movie at the start of the game and takes you right to the severs sign on page

How do you extract the .bin file? tried magic iso, power iso and one other, none worked.  Was having trouble with the 'map not found' error when trying to play RtR servers so was going to reinstall your version of RtR and see if that worked, couldnt get past the opening the .bin stage, google no help so far.

The bin is just a file that is needed for when you run the bf1942 .exe installer.  Leave it in the folder and the installer will use it automatically when it is run.
