The GTS with the (g92) is better than that one although its only 512 mb. Just so you know.

As to it being only 512, it doesn't matter much as long as you have enough system RAM.

All of the new 880o GTS's have 512 instead of 640 or320. Go with one with 512 they are the new build and much better than the ones with 640megs of mem.

I just purchased a Samsung 226BW 22" LCD for $275.00 + tax. This monitor has gotten alot of bad press about the different manufacturers of the LCD panels which some have a blue dominance (S panel is made by Samsung, C in China and A in some country I can't recall) but is a great monitor even if you have to manually adjust the colors. Newegg is selling them for $269.00 after a $40.00 mail in rebate but at Office Depot in Georgia, they had them for $279.00 good thru June 08. I confirmed they had one in stock and went to a neighboring Circuit City store to have them match the price + 10% of the difference for a final price of $275.00. It has a 2 ms response time BTW.

I did end up getting the 'C' panel (you find that out by going into the maint. menu) but right out of the box it looked stunning. No adjustments necessary and I got it for basically Newegg price without having to wait for a mail in rebate.

Why only 2 gig of RAM? I know some think 4 is overkill with a 32 bit system, but RAM is so cheap I can't see a reason not to have a little overhead. I have 4 gig installed and for BF2 it is wonderful. I am always the first or second person to load into a new map. Huge advantage when you can have a fifteen second head start on the competition.

so a card like

http://www.ncix.com/...mp;promoid=1020

http://www.ncix.com/...mp;promoid=1020

that one?

and if I have money left I'll throw in another GB of ram at least

btw keep in mind I am buying only from ncix

because my parents say shipping is out of the question but NCIX is a 5 hour drive from town so its more conveniant.

Yep those are the ones. Much better cards than the older 640 meg version. 3 gigs of ram is great, it is about all your system is going to let you use anyway. I had 4 but since my system was only seeing 2.8 because of graphics cards and other uses I took 2 out and put them in another pc and then put in a couple of 512's. Always buy your ram in sets, they work faster that way..IE- 2gigs= 2- 1 gig sticks, 3gigs= 2-1gigs and 2-512's, etc

I have 4 gigs of ram installed. Since installing service pack 1 for Vista, it is actually showing 4 gigs. It used to only show 3.5. Sort of odd.

It will show the 4 gigs but it needs room in there for the memory on your graphics card and other programs too. So if you had a pair of the new 8800gt's with 1gig on each, you wouldn't even get to use 2 gigs. kinda stinky but that is the way it works unless you run 64 bit version..then you could install pretty much all the ram you wanted.

I would forget about the RaptorX and get either the:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11

or

Samsung SpinPoint F1

Both are new and show good result's even beating the raptorx, although the raptor beats them in windows boot time and level loading for games but for the money is 2-4 seconds worth it??

I would really recommend a different cooler for your cpu. Scythe coolers arn't that good imo.
Check out this link for some excellent air coolers.
http://www.tomshardw...2008/index.html

Instead of a E6850, why not settle for a Wolfdale aka E8400. The performance is alot better and most people are reporting and excellent oc. From 3.0 to 4.2ghz stable.
The monitor is excellent, but that monitor if i remember correctly, uses a TN panel which has great response time but bad color reproduction/ viewing angles etc. If you arn't into graphic design you should be fine. I use a MVA panel which has a slower response time, but excellent color reproduction/ viewing angle etc.The P5K mobo is excellent, but i would go with a different HD. There is a couple batches of bad HD from WD recently and most people are reporting premature drive failures within an year, I personally would go with a Seagate barracuda. The ram choice is excellent, but i can probably get some mushkin rams that perform better for less. The Antec 900 case is great, and atm i think newegg has them on sale for under $75 which is an excellent bargain. Your power supply is kind of overkill for the rig you are running, but hey if you got the money, better be safe and be prepare for future upgrades then sorry right? =]

The video card is great but make sure you sign up with EVGA for the step-up program, but imo i would only get 1x atm and upgrade to a better card aka the 9800GTX etc when drivers mature. I, myself would rather get a single high end card for my gaming needs, (unless you have the money to throw around). Also a single 8800GT will handle almost every game you can throw at it playing on a 22" resolution (Besides crysis and couple other games). My single self oc'd 8800GT performs wonderfully on my 24" monitor.

Last thing i want to comment on (lol i know this is a long post) is the sound card choice, i personally will recommand The X-Fi series from creative instead of turtle beach cards if you are running vista. You can download ALchemy drivers from creative to enable DirectSound3D in vista, other cards can't do that under vista.

Confilcts:

Vista vs XP- I would like to have DX10 for newer games but does it still support old ones?

video card- either the 8800 GTS 640 MB card or 2 8800 GT 512MB cards although I heard the GT runs hot

RAM- corsairs and Ballistix are the same size but I think Ballistix are faster

any ideas on what I should go with or if you can come up with something either being a combo of diff parts from those 3 ideas above or your own idea (although i need you to explain what the difference is between what I chose and what you chose)

Vista definitely, although there will be a performance hit comparing to using Xp, You won't even notice it with the rig you are building. DX10 Doesn't mean that you can't play pre-Directx10 games. Its backward compatible.

Video card- even tho the 8800GTS 640 has more frame buffer then the 8800GT 512, the GT nets you far more performance then the GTS 640. The GT is based on the G92 architecture and the 8800GTS 640 is based on G80. The Gt has performance close to the GTX for half the price.

Ram- Corsair rams and Crucial both makes very good ram, i would go with Corsairs over the Crucial's tho. But i like Mushkins Better =].

Yep, thats my 2 cents. Lol tho a bit long. GL with your new rig.

P.S if you can wait, why not wait till Nehalem (Intel's next gen quad core cpus) They use a completely different socket thus making your current LGA775 mobo obsolete.

The only difference I would suggest to get a Quad Core, but other than that, it looks good.
