so today I decided to go onto teamspeak.
so I install ts3 and proceed to set it up
i.e. mic level, push to talk etc..
and it doesnt capture my mic input....nothing on the vu meter at all
I can hear the mic is "live" through my headphones so I check
connections, drivers, settings etc....nothing appears wrong.
then I decide to try ts2 and voila....it works fine.
(BTW the sound card is an old creative SB live! 5.1)
proceed to google and found a rather weird workaround.
the long and short of it is.... if I start TS2, leave it running unconnected,
THEN start TS3 it will capture the mic signal and works fine.
I intend to figure this out....however if someone out there is very knowledgeable
concerning the inner workings of teamspeak, i'd love to hear your thoughts.
first I'll be looking at each programs registry loadout and comparing.
then again I could just live with running both versions simultaneously.......

thanks in advance
Matty

P.S. I couldn't seem to switch to the CQ room for the brief few moments I was on
the moon TS.... I assume I need to be registered?

You're now registered so you will be free to move about the country.

I know of someone who has to enter TS the exact same way you do...if you solve this I'm sure he'll send you a cookie.

I use the same work around, I noticed this when swapping out to TS3. I attribute it to my audio set up, I loop my audio from my admin computer through my main gaming computer enabling me to hear TS and game while keeping the programs on separate computers. If your audio set up differs from mine then the set up is not the issue. A fix would be nice; I have yet to find one however, so I maintain the current set up.

As to the First reply, I would like to say:
Thank you, oh kind and noble server pixie!
How very nice of you.

As to the Second, just to be clear:
I am assuming your mic is plugged into the comp running the dual teamspeak,
in the proper jack etc...
(I sincerely hope you do not think me insulting your intelligence)

That said your post intrigued me because I do similar things with the computer
I use as my music recording workstation.
(gaming comp has separate mic/line-in therefore I didn't think it would be any issue)

So I decided to climb into the obligatory pile of cables that comes with any home studio,
and removed the more complicated than I remembered loop. (pesky mixing board)
It had no effect.

This leads me to believe that I'm dealing with a software issue.
Plan to do more googleing and if that produces no result, I shall attempt to figure out
why ts2 makes ts3 hook the mic signal.

Have you updated your sound card drivers? It could be that or it could also be that TS3 has some sort of issue with older/certain sound cards. If that's the case, I think that would be something the TS devs would have to fix and you should submit a bug report to them.

Well according to what i can find the mic capture "bug"
is a known issue with certain sound cards...
Just updated TS3 today and it still has not fixed this issue for me.

also I fear i may have broken something while poking around to see if i could figure out
why it works with TS2 loaded, as I no longer seem to be able to change rooms in teamspeak
and have no little icons next to my name anymore. not sure at all at this point...

I added you back into the database, you should come into TS3 as a Reg next time. ;)

Thanks so very much, sorry to be a pain.
Was pretty sure I might have broken something client side.
Thanks

I find the mic works best if you just leave it rolled upped and laying on top of the tower.
I have no issues with mine when left in that position.
Hope this helps. :P

This is odd....
2-3 days ago TS3 updated and I was able to use it without TS2 running
and the mic worked fine, today it updated and now I am back to using both
TS2 and TS3 as a workaround.
the post earlier today by cyclops got me thinking I should
post here that it worked now, so Comet could give it a try,
however I thought it prudent to double-check first.
Although now I can close TS2 after TS3 is up and running
and the mic will still function, it by first impressions is
somewhat moody now in that it doesn't always seem to work the
first time I start them....will have to test further....
