Sometimes, half way through loading a map, game quits with the error "Battlefield 1942 has stopped working" and I have to restart the game and it may or may not work. When it does work, it's fine.
Any solutions?
Thanks

This is a very common problem. As far as I know, there is no fix for 100% functionality.

Check this post I made a while ago out. These things help on Windows 7 the same as they did for Vista. This should minimise your crashes:

If there's an option for SP3 compatibility mode, choose that instead of SP2 :)

NOCD it, and set NT compatibility. You may crash once, twice, MAYBE thrice, and then it just irons itself out.

Punkbuster doesn't care either you're legit to do so

Thanks again for the tip. It didn't stop the crashes but I changed the compatibility to xp service 2 and it seems to be working.

Yeah, everyone seems to need slightly different settings based around roughly the same fix. I read somewhere that SP3 was a good option for most, but like you I run with SP2 compat mode. I guess playing around with it all is the only way to really get it right :)

I've run mine in ME/98 mode on on Vista and it seemed to be a little better than XP Service pack 2
