How to create a Custom Spray for DoD

This tutorial will show you how to easily create a Day of Defeat spray. This tutorial can also be used for making custom sprays for other Half-Life mods too.

Step 1:

Download HL Tag Converter from here : http://www.aacfdl.co...agConverter.exe
The file is an executable and requires no installation.

Step 2:

Find or create an image you would like to use for your spray and save it to any directory on your computer(Generally JPG format has the best results).

Step 3:

Open up HL Tag Converter. Once it is opened you will want to select the first button labeled, "1. Open Image". When you select the button you should have a window pop up where you can navigate to locate your image. Go to the directory with your image, select the image, and click OPEN. Your image should be displayed in HL Tag Converter.

Step 4:

Once your image is displayed in HL Tag Converted select the second button labeled, "2. Adjust Image". A small pop-up window should appear with the new dimensions listed. Simply press the button, "Apply changes and convert to 256 colors". Once you have done this you should see your resized image in the HL Tag Converter.

Step 5:

Once your image is resized select the third button labeled, "3. Save Tag". Once you select the button it should give you a pop-up window with three different radial options to select. You will want to select the "Export to WAD file" option and click OK.

You will want to save the file in your DoD directory (C:\Program File\Steam\Steamapps\USERNAME\Day of Defeat\dod\ ) as tempdecal. There should already be a file named tempdecal but you will want to over-write it with your custom one.

Step 6:

Once your spray is saved you can exit out of HL Tag Converter. You will want to go to your DoD directory (C:\Program File\Steam\Steamapps\USERNAME\Day of Defeat\dod\ ) and make the tempdecal.wad file Read-Only by Right-Mouse Clicking on it, going to properties, and selecting Read-Only.

Now your ready to go use your spray! You don't need to go into your DoD options and change your sprays. It will appear automatically whenever you spray.
