Dear Moongamers,

I was wondering if any of you were successful in getting those wonderful R2R and SW maps working with origin?
I would love to start playing them on moon gamers again. Please let me know if it's possible or if I should dump the origin install and reinstall from cd.

Warmest Regards,

Nope. Doesn't work. Origin is a piece of shit that cannot be expanded in any way. Dump it and use v1.61. Plus PunkBuster doesn't work on Origin. Truly a huge POS.

Ok thanks for the I info. I'll have to dust off the old BF cd's and do it right. Would be nice to get Desert Combat going as well.

The full truth here would that it doesn't work perfectly. There are shared versions out there that have been made to work. RTR was released for origin in Europe but not u.s. recently.

My thoughts go elsewhere.. It's my opinion that for 1942 the master server could have been maintained for about $37.50 for life. Origin players might want to think about finding those old CD's. If you have a mountain of CD's many with spin time scratches, like many of us do. A trusted abandonware version of the game might be a good install option for you.

In this case I don't look at EA as good Stewards of the intellectual property they originally chose to manage.

I also point to the fact that player inquiries for 1942 we're directed to 'gameranger' just after the master server died. There was a plan in place.. we we're not part of it.. and it wasn't a very good plan. More the reason to snub Origin.
