I can't for the life of me figure this out. I reformatted a couple weeks ago and ever since, I am losing FPS in game on BF1942. I start out with about 200 FPS. It fluctuates from 150-200 for the first 10-15 mins. Then like clock-work, it slowly starts getting worse and worse. It goes all the way down to 10 FPS after about 25-30 mins in game. If i stop game, restart, it is right back to 200 FPS. I have played BF2 with my PC and no issues what so ever after any period of time. I also play Civ5 and no issues. So, seeing as though BF1942 is the least graphic intensive of those, i don't think its my graphics card.

Here are some of the things i have tried with no avail:
-Multiple resolutions in games ( try to play in my default 1920X1080 by customizing my Video.con file but have tried at least 5 other default resolutions.
-I have tried killing various tasks before playing to see if it is something else (Avast for antivirus), Xfire, all internet explorers, etc.
-I have reinstalled BF1942 two times with no change
-I have uninstalled my antivirus and ran with none an no change.
-i have verified i am using the most recent video drivers
-i have watched temperatur and core loading through some software while playing to try to see what happens. Most times, Temperatures start around 47C and move up to 55C as i play. But, that doesn't seem abnormal to me and is similar while playing other games.

I have a Nvidia GTX650 which is plenty for this game. 4 gigs of RAM. Quad Core Intel.
I am running two monitors but run BF1942 on my wide screen.
I have a cheesy sound card, and wonder if that is an issue but i had it before reformatting with no issues.

Other than that, i cant think of anything else besides full refortmat and try fresh.

I am running Win7 32 bit.

Anyone have any ideas? The nature of it being about exactly 10-15 mins each and every time makes me skeptical it is some program doing it to me whether malware or a conflict.

Thanks.

That doesn't sound good! Unfortunately the only thing I can think of at this stage would be to try locking your FPS at a certain value and hope that stops it sliding down.

The way to do that in-game is open console with the tilde key ~, and type in this command and hit enter "renderer.lockfps XXX" with X being whatever value you want. If you're on a 120 fps monitor I'd go with 120 or 60, 60 fps monitor 60 or 30 etc etc.

If that doesn't work someone else may be able to help, if all else fails I'd try re-installing the game

It has gotten better with this LockFPS command, but still not perfect or the way it used to be. It is holding longer before some lag starts but hasn't progressed to as much lag.

Do you know what the numbers mean when you type" Console.showfps 1 ? There are 3 numbers in ( ). I noticed that my far right number, when the lag starts, gets up to 600-1200%) where as when it first starts the level, it is down below 20%.

I had similar issues that went away with a decent sound card and updated sound card drivers.

I am starting to think it could be the sound card. i have such a crappy sound card that i bought because it had an Optical output so i can run my sound through my receiver. it cost like $15-20.

I would make sure the motherboard's onboard audio is disabled and update the sound card drivers if needed. Then check the in game performance before buying anything new.

I had the exact same issue years ago. I tracked it down to the game sound. The lag was drastically improved after disabling ingame sound, which, of course, made the game just as unplayable as with the lag. The only thing that helped me was finding updated drivers for the hardware online.

Here is the tech help thread I created years ago.
