Ok heres the deal. I got counterstrike source a couple of days ago and installed it. That went fine. I started it up and tired to get my video settings right. I put on everything as low as possible and i get a avereage frame rate of 9. I am not sure what size ram my video card has because its onboard video and i only have 512 ram. I put all the settings maxed out and i got 10 fps. Thats problem 1. Problem 2 is like a retard i lost my serial number so i cant activate it on steam. I have looked in the registry under localmachine and user. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Guys.

Last I checked the serial number is not stored on your computer, it's what activates to your steam account. That way, you will never need it again to reinstall, just your Steam login.

For the framerate, it's because of where you are on the map that is affecting your frame-rate.

Integrated Video card = no video ram. It uses main system ram. The fact that you are trying to play with integrated graphics and 512 of system ram is laughable. Read the system requirements next time.

Ok thanks. But i got it from a neighbor who got tired of playing and i said ok. SO i am gonna give it back to him. My motto is you cant beat free with a stick.

What Video Mode are you using? If its software and you have a poor processor then its not going to work very well. Try D3D or DirectX or whatever they call it in this new fangled source version.

Also buy a new graphics card. A half decent one that will run CS:S will be quite cheap these days. If you have AGP i would reccomend at least a ATI9800 and maybe a x800. If you shop on ebay it will be even cheaper.

you can get a card for like 100 bucks to play cs. it won't look fantastic, but it'll do.

Suggetions for a good pci video card for 150$. I dont care about vista or any of the dx10 crap.

well.... ram is fine. dont worry about that... video card... now... be sure you buy a card that will work with your computer. search yahoo or google, or w/e to find out about your pc. the reason im saying this is because you have built-in graphics. they first have to be disabled, and if the card you buy is not compatible with the overwriting of the consistent reminders to enable your on-board graphics you'll be looking for another card, and selling the one you just bought.

I had this happen with a friends dell. but then agai it was a dell... ...mine is too.....

You can get the ATI Radeon x850XT on NewEgg for like $100 now. It's not TOP OF THE LINE, but with my 1gb of ram, I can run CS:S at full graphics.

Well its a dell deminsion 4700. i know how to turn it off the intergrated graphics but that means squat if its gonna turn back on.. i check my device manager and i belive it is a intel 82801 mobo. it says pci express but not 8 or 16. If yall could describe the physical diffences it would help.

thats the exact same pc i have but i have a radeon x300 pci express and 1 gig of ram! get my card for like 75 bucks and you'll be fine! our pc's are upgradeable. You just have to disable the graphics before installing your new card. Its should work just fine.

The only reason i suggested to you to buy the x300, or even x600 is because i have the same pc. Dell is weird about their computers. But since i ahve basically the same one, it should work for you just fine!

its not as high-end as one may think, its more along the lines of the nvidia 5200 pci card. our old card. slow.
either the x600, or a good nvidia card is higly recommended for your budget.
