Hello.

Can you provide some more information please?
Which game are we talking about?

Does it go straight to desktop?
After game crash, does the resolution reset itself or are you stuck?

My first thought was a problem with the video/graphics card, but since you are able to run it in singleplayer. That's not it..
- However.. It could be a driver problem. Make sure your drivers are updated.

Another thing could be the video mode, make sure it's set correctly:

Go to the settings folders here:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings

Open this file using wordpad or notepad, "videodefault.con" and check this line;

renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1

It should say 1 not 0.

Then open this file, "video.con", if it refers you to a custom profile then go to that folder (eg: run Profiles/Custom/Video.con) then go to this folder etc;

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\Custom

and edit this line to read something like below;

game.setGameDisplayMode 800 600 32 60
restart game and test.

Have you set it to run in compatibility mode with win 98?

Is this retail or Origin version?

dodgem is correct.

As you now informed me that singleplayer is also affected, it leads me to believe it's gamespy related.

But let's try rule out the Compatibility mode issue first.

Option 1: Run the game as an Administrator in Windows 98 Compatibility mode

In your Battlefield 1942 folder, Right click BF1942.exe->Go to Compatibility Tab

Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows 98
Check "Run as Administrator"
Click OK

*Compatibility mode should fix the crashes, however sometimes PunkBuster doesn't like it and boots you a few seconds after joining. If this is the case, Turn off compatibility mode and proceed to option 2

Option 2: Pixel-Fighter Windows Vista/7 Patch

Link: http://85.214.86.156...ta-win7-fix.rar

BF42 Player Grabbi (server admin/creator of Forgotten Hope Mod fan community Pixel-Fighter) has developed a patch which changes some game files and registry entries to fix crashing and eliminate the need for compatibility mode in Windows Vista/Windows 7 (thus fixing PunkBuster kicks because of it). It also adds some Widescreen resolutions (up to 1600x1200) and lowers abnormally high pings on Windows Vista/7 that some have reported. This should be a last resort since it permanently changes Windows registry entries and game files.

If this dosen't work, you will have to reinstall bf42 and apply changes as suggested on this link:

I tried all the options and the problems are still here, its like 50%, the game starts well every now and then but when a map changes the game crashes again, and sometimes after the gamecrash I have to adjust the resolution, should I reinstal the whole game?
