Yes, you can skip the movie and intro. Don't load from the CD start. Instead, create a shortcut from the BF1942.exe file, add a space, then add this to the end:

+restart 1

Here is my shortcut. My game files are on my D drive:

"D:\Battlefield 1942\BF1942.exe" +restart 1

Enjoy!

long time ago someone posted about removing the movies from the movies folder in your battlefield folder. all you have to do is creat a new file for each movie in there..example there is a file called Intro.bik. all you have to do is create a new text document entiltled Intro_old.bik. then you can trash the actual movie...and do that for the others. Dice, EA, Intro, and Legal are all the videos, and all of them can be skipped. dont know if this one is easier for you, but it works for me.

I actually went to BF Tracks and found my name. Next to my screen name is the green button to play my last server, which is mostly moons. Right mouse click to get save target as. Save target to desktop as Battlefield 1942. Now, double click the shortcut and it brings you right to the log in screen to moon.

Pretty sure that is how I did it.

Here's how I did it, Same method as above but a little more detailed.

Go to the BF1942 folder: ...\BF1942>right click on BF1942 icon>send to>desktop (create shortcut). Go back to desktop.

To find the target line that the commands will be added to:
Right click on the desktop shortcut>properties>shortcut and then
look at the target line; it should say ...\BF1942\BF1942.exe

Now for the commands:

To skip the intro movie and go straight to the menu use "+restart 1"
Ex. ...\BF1942\BF1942.exe +restart 1

To start a BF1942 modification use "+game 'name'".
Ex. ...\BF1942\BF1942.exe +restart 1 +game desertcombat.
The mod name can be found in the first line of the game's "ini.con" file (game.setCustomGameName DesertCombat).
The path for DC would be...\BF1942\Mods\DesertCombat\ini.con

To automatically join a server just use " +joinServer x.x.x.x:port"
(case sensitive)
Ex...\BF1942.exe +restart 1 +game desertcombat +joinServer x.x.x.x:14567
Don't worry about putting in the +game cmd when joining
a desert combat server, the game automatically detects the mod.

Great instructions there, LeadPoison! I have only one question about it.

When you create a shortvut directly to a partucular server, thereby passing over the movies, menu, etc....when you login to the server, does it use the last player name you used, or does it default to "player"?

Ex...\BF1942.exe +restart 1 +user (insert name) +joinServer x.x.x.x:14567 ?

Just curious....

It uses the name set in your bf1942 profile, you can always switch names in game.

The absolute quickest way to get in is as follows.
Goto moons home page. Click on the BF STATS link. At the top of the screen click on the green Play button. Once it opens, click on the SAVE feature. This will create a shortcut. Place this schortcut anywhere you want. I have my link in my quick launch bar. One click straight to Moon.

Good luck.
