Hello all,

I am going to install BF1942 and would like to know what mods or addons that I will need to join your server.  I am running Windows 7 and I have the CD version of the game.

Thank You,

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

Everything you need can be found here:

https://drive.google...cEJsVEFwZGZKMlk

After installing the game via the CDs, I would download the files below from the Google Drive link and install in the same order.  The non-bold are the names of the folders within that Google Drive link.  The bold are the file names that you should download:

  1. Expansion Packs folder > Road to Rome > Battlefield_1942_The_Road_to_Rome.zip - (you will need to unzip this to your desktop and then install the .exe within)
  2. Expansion Packs folder > Secret Weapons > Battlefield_1942_Secret_Weapons_of_WWII.zip - (same as above)
  3. Patches > battlefield_1942_gamespy_patch_v1.61.exe
  4. Patches > battlefield_1942_incremental_patch_v1.6_to_v1.61b.exe
  5. Patches > battlefield1942 all in one patch up pack for windows xp win vista win 7 win 8 win 10

Once you have installed all of that, you can right click your BF1942 shortcut, select the Compatibility tab at the top and then check the box that says "Run this program in Compatibility Mode for:" and from the drop down menu select Windows XP Service Pack 3.  At the bottom of the compatibility tab, you should also tick "Run this program as an administrator".

We play the RtR and SW expansion packs on Sundays.

There's lots of other maps, mods and expansions on that Google Drive so feel free to install as many as you want.

Also, see this thread for creating a shortcut to skip the intro videos to the game and connect you directly to your favourite servers:

And this link for playing the game in widescreen (involves editing your game files):

In the Expansion Packs folder are Road to Rome and Weapons of WWII the same as XPack1 and Xpack2?

Yes, that's right.  They're the same.

Thanks but when I finished installing everything in the order that was given and try to launch the game, nothing happens, no errors, nothing.  Checked some forums and edited a full screen video setting in a (.con) file but the same thing, nothing happens.  I am running in windows compatibility mode XP SP3 and running as Administrator.  Any ideas?

I had the same problem here, reinstalled from CDs, etc.

Only thing that worked was the download that Dodgem posted above.

Thanks!

Using Win 7 with CD version, but I had to set my compatibility to NT SP5 to get it to work.

Chacal,

Long time no see, hope everything is going ok with you.

I'm still stuck in this old but great game.

I hope to see you playing again :)

Decent view of the game now after changing VideoDefault.con file, line:"renderer.setFullScreen" from a value of 0 to 1

Now I can try connecting to the server, thank you all!

Heya guys.

Bad_Driver here.

Former Admin and long time player of Moongamers.

Been about..  geeze 10 years or so since I've played.

I saw the game was recently "free" to play.   I'm going to assume that is to download the game for free.

The problem I see is the download sites.  I am not sure they are really a secure place to actually download the game.

I might have the CD's, but would it just be easier to download the game instead?

Plus where to download it from a respectable place.

Steam doesn't have it.

Thanks!
