DODS: wont let me......change my name in the console.
I was pretty sure it would be a simple matter...no matter what
syntax I use It just tells me what my name is...it won't change.
I've looked at several websites listing all the DODS console commands
at by all appearances I did it right the first time....

A page on the steam website says to go to options>multiplayer
and change your name in the field.....
but it doesn't exist on my multiplayer options......
(the name field that is..)

I'm wondering if it's somehow fixated on my steam id....
anyone have any ideas?

While in game:
Hold both Shift and Tab keys. Choose settings, and then Friends/Profile and there is your name. (Hopefully, I steered you right.)

I was hoping I could just change my name in that game
not so much my steam profile....
half-life lets me do it if I remember correctly.
however this is an avenue I shall explore....

kinda new to steam so bear with me...
most of it is pretty obvious....but there seem to be a few

There used to be a "name" command that worked in the DoD console, but it doesn't work any more. You have to go through Settings/Friends tab to change your name these days.
