Yes, I am. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 5700 FX Ultra. I got it a year ago, and it still works very well. Very respectable scores on 3DMark03, and very respectable game play. I, personally, would like to upgrade to perhaps a 6600, however I do not have the funds, and a CPU and RAM come first. I am very happy with this video card. And its only about $150 online.

The only problem I've had with the Nvidea 5000 series is the pixel shaders. The development tools for rendering are buggy from what I've read.

1 game in particular that caused me problems was Asheron's Call 2. Once I turned pixel shading off the game would run consistantly well. With them on, there would be rendering issues that would crop up over time. I have a similar issue with a brand new game (Roller Coaster Tycoon 3).

I've heard from a mutual friend that ATI has its' problems and he's switched to Nvidea.

I guess there really isn't a full proof GPU on the market that hasn't had an issue. I choose to stick with the Nvidea brand but the new Pci-express ATI is touting is supposed to be the next revolution. They claim it is twice as fast as any card on the market. Unfortunately ATI's X800 card is way too expensive at present($500) so I'll make due with the one I have now.

I read yesterday that the current driver for ATI cards have a bug with anti-cheat software like Punkbuster. I know that BF was on of the games affected. Check out the following link:

ATI to fix Punkbuster problem in 4.12

Mid December

By Fuad Abazovic: Friday 05 November 2004, 16:52

MANY OF MY gaming friends told me that there is a serious problem with 4.10 drivers and games that use this tool. Many servers are using it to prevent cheats during a game play.
The list of affected games appears to be quite long. Call of Duty, America's Army, Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Enemy Territory, Far Cry, Joint Operations, MOH Pacific Assault, Quake 3 Arena, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, RTCW, Soldier of Fortune II and Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow are affected.

In a usual scenario, a game will hang after half an hour of playing and up to now the only solution is to downgrade to earlier drivers. Catalyst 4.9 doesn’t have a problem with this tool as far as we know.

ATI said that it is aware of the incompatibility and has already finished a beta driver that is fixing the problem. ATI is still testing it and will release the beta as soon as its ready enough.

This bug will be fixed in Catalyst 4.12 - that will come in early to middle of December.

Both Steven and I have the nVIDIA GeForce FX 5700. We have had no problems running BF1942. Steven noticed a big difference running his other online games, Planetside and Everquest. Not sure how this will handle the upcoming BF2. I am looking at upgrading to the GeForce 6800 Ultra but it is still quite pricy.

Yes I too am worried about how my video card will handle BF2, and that is why I am looking to upgrade. The 6800 looks great, and I believe that is what I will be putting on my christmas list.
