From just about everything I have seen about the 7600GT it should be able to run the game at 1280x1024 with most things on high, only problem is that also requires 2 gigs of ram (or at least 1.5 gigs). I don't think you'll find that card has quite the muscle to run BF2 at your monitors native resolution (Native Resolution 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz (recommended)). There is nothing saying you can't run a lower res, just not higher than native. Oh and as far as the refresh rate, I wouldn't set it any higher than the recommended (60 hz in this case).

If it was me I would start at 1280x1024@60, with a mix of high and medium (shadows and lighting on medium, maybe even low), and see how it goes. Then again I would also try running at the native resolution just for fun to see how it looks.

Another thing to consider is that BF2 doesn't have wide screen support, there are workarounds, but no native wide screen.

Run at the highest resolution you can support, yet still get good FPS. Usually 1600x1200 (4:3 ratio) is the most you ever want to use. 1280x1024 (5:4 ratio) is another common one used on 4:3 monitors.

As for the Hz, it doesn't matter with an LCD.

And BF2 does do widescreen, but it is very poor because it will cut off the top and bottom, and not show you anymore on the right and left. Kinda confusing, but I wouldn't bother using it.

Where do we send the bill? :D

P.S. Noticed something looking at that test of yours. Won't provide too much more in the way of performance, but double check that your ram is running in dual channel mode. Normally it would tell you on the initial boot screen, but with your computer being an HP it is doubtful that you ever see it. Anyway grab this,

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

and it will tell you whether it is in dual channel or not. If it is not, all you need to do is to move one stick of ram (from what I can see of the motherboard in your computer it has two blue and two black slots, and for DC to work you need to have two sticks of ram in the matching colored slots).

I don't know where to look for that, so here is a screen shot in the memory tab

You're good. On the right side where it says Channels, it is running in dual channel mode.

i use 32 inch LCD TV for monitor, i run it at 1080i resolution (1900x1080) and have no problem, i have to use it as this is HDTV. but with nvidia drivers u should not have any problems for any of resolutions that you wanna use
i have a CRT monitor that i can run games at 1600x1200 but somehow the resolution just doesnt make that much difference, it looks far better in big screen with lower rez.
you will probably be limited with what frames you want from your video card as this monitor looks like it can handle anything.
if you want everything on high, than you will probably have to go down to 800x600 resolution, Im not sure with 7600GT but you will probaly have to turn off AA and AF completely to get decent fps. you should test it and tell us what happened,

Y2K, why would u run it in 5x4 when u can use it in widescreen? what will hapen is u will loose half of screen size, 7600GT should support widescreen rezolutions too.

I was running my ATI X1600 PRO in 1024x768 with anti-aliasing set to x6, I changed to 1600x1200 with anti-aliasing OFF and saw a huge jump in my frame rate and a very slight change in picture quality.

I was speaking in general. Most people use 5:4 resolutions, when they have a 4:3 CRT.

I will play around with the settings and let you know what happened. Right now i'm running it on 1080 x ? at 60hertz (sorry I have to restart my computer everytime I want to run battlefield 2, I can only start it once per restart, which is a pain in the ass.)
I run every thing on med. except Texture which is on high, shadows and dynamic lighting off, and AA off. 100% view.
when my computer run's good I get 60-70 FPS but sometimes when I get 60-70 fps it still run's slow maybe internet lag ?

Anything over 1152x864 looks wrong visually to me. However, I have been running on a moniter that has that as it max res for the past 6 years. <_<
FYI 1gb is barely enough to load all high textures. You could try a RAM managment program but I would just get anouther gig perosnally
