What video cards do you guys recomend for a PC to play BF2142. I am trying to get another computer for two of us here at my house. I have one. But the video card in it is $500 and i am not paying that again. So if i could get some help.

If you don't care about any other game but BF2142, get the EVGA 8800 GT. It's like $140 right now, should be enough to run it on max.

If you want some future power, get a 9800 GTX, around $200

Assuming you have a PCI-E based mobo....the 8800gt is certainly the best bang for the buck.

8800GT would be perfect for Bf2142, if you want more, the 9800GTX would work too.

I got the Radeon HD3850 512Mb and I can play anything on the market right now. Only cost me $160 6 months ago.

Running Prey at Max/1280x1024, both the 3850(512 version) and 8800's are up to it. BF2142 tests are similar to this I just couldn't find a nice graph to show.

Anything that will sustain 60 FPS is all you need. That is what is considered the visible frame rate. Meaning your eyes won't see any difference between 90 and 60 FPS.

Yes, but if the graphics card is running at 80% instead of max, it will last longer because it hasn't been overworked.

If your short on cash buy the cheapest/minimal requirements.

Thats what I did at first, and worked my way up.

That's because I prefer ATI cards and it seems that the rest of the others are 8800 fanboys.

But really the 4850 is the performance king in the under $200 category. The new 4870x2 also looks to steal the performance crown from the gtx280. And before you call me a fanboy im not i actually own a 8800 gts 640. Im a fan of whichever brand is faster and offers good bang for the buck

I've got an 8800gt and I'm hoping it isn't true, but time will tell. If I was in the market right now I'd get an ATI board, without a doubt.

I know it's off topic, but just to clarify. Frags, I wasn't calling you a fanboy, I was mostly referring to the ppl that make a video card suggestion without backing it up with anything more then "it's the best.". The main reason I stated the 8800 was that, from what I've see, the fanboys are more likely to not back up they're suggestion with any real info.

I'm not bashing the 8800 in any way. I haven't even used one to truly say wither it's good or bad.
