I really need to see this for myself, I somehow missed Saturday, the server test was a lot shorter than I imagined it would be.

I do not believe it is as bad as Trooper is saying, that server would have to be running on a P3 with 256 of ram to be that slow. :wtf:

We need to do another test run, when a lot of people can put it through its paces.

Hi,just been at test server and is no good, died for lag 4 times, imagine conection problems if you are in plane and when conection came back u are 1 inch of building, land or tree.... bad! bad !!

And my ping whent from 170 to 300 or more !!! <_<

Please dont move to chicago server !!

A high ping is not the result of lag; rather, a high ping causes lag.
Therefore make sure you test your local services, to enure you are clear of problems.
Three things affect the overall ping- 1. Network protocol engineering, 2. Internet connection speed, the quality of a user's Internet service provider and ofcourse the configuration of your firewalls. Check with your provider, and see if your getting the correct amount of bandwith.

You can ask your ISP to test it for you, and locate the specific server causing too much latency. Then you can be re-routed, and hopefully that can improve your ping. Also be sure you have a decent upload speed! (allows faster updates of game data = lower latency = Smoother gameplay.)

- Just trying to help you Trooper. ;)

@Lin
If the server is still up, I'll drop by today and test it out. ;)

Opus,

Thank you ! but issue when was at Chicago server was not due my internet provider, I did tested their service and was correct as usual, same parameters as always before.

I know ping does not mean lag, Ive played in servers with 300+ ping and never suffered a freeze or a "conection problems" issue. But at that server it happened 4 times in less than 15 minutes, was unplayable.

I mentioned worst ping as almost got double in there and it afect a lot the game and make almost impossible to play as an infantary and even on a plane, delay the bombing/shooting and cause me to miss targets a lot when with 170 ping that does not happens.

So if you ask me, please dont move to chicago server.

That sucks man! I know how it feels. I'll drop by tonight, and check it out myself.

Hi Trooper

That fact is that the new server was running smoother than the normal one and with less ping for me. Whilst ingame at the same time many other players remarked the same and said it was great and better than the normal server including an admin.

So therefore Trooper the problem must lie at your end with your ISP - the internet plan youre on,the routing they use etc.

If it is and only afect my provider, country or South America it will be so sad that can´t imagine not be able to play Moongamers as before, it will surely break my hart :(

Ok, tested it. My ping goes up to around 115 - 120, where I usually play with 90-100. So it's not a major difference, but still a bit higher ping than normal. In terms of lag, there were none. Server was emty though, so I will try again later with people on it. Ping might rise to 125-130 on a full server, but its not unplayable.. lol

Opus, the ping has nothing to do with the internet speed you have . I had a ping of 110 10years ago with dsl 1mbit and i have a ping of 110 today with 100mbit down and 5mbit up.

Ping
The time it takes for a packet to travel from your computer to a server and back"

Packet Loss
The percentage of packets sent to a server that never arrive

So if not mistaken, the ping can help determine the quality of your connection. Low ping, means your closer to a server. (less distance, less servers to go through - better odds in terms of packetloss = latency). The longer the route, the bigger the chance of losing packets? no?

I am not trying to act expert on this, just sharing what I know and what others have shared over time.

To me it's not about speed, but stability (the quality) of the line your on.

Hey,

ping means, that when you move your gun and aim, ping, is the time the keys order go from your PC to the server and the game. At your screen you can see inmediatelly you are shooting but the result in game depends on the ping.

If you have a 180 ping means that even that you aim and fire firts ir your opononent is also shooting you and has lower ping say 30 to 80 then you are dead and he is just wounded, many dont give importance to high pings complaint , when they have a low one...., as they for sure never did endure a infantary map with a high pin. I have played in both, servers near me with a 30 - 50 ping and when changed to a 150 - 180 ping difference was notorious. Same player, diferent ping, died a lot in gunfights.

I have not entered the Chicago server again, Yesterday was at TDM one, i was searching the net for solutions and ive downloaded a program named Razer Game booster, and it improved a lot mi ping, from 180- 210 to 140 - 170 and lowered latency and better game experience. I suggest to give a try, so far worked ok.

Why the discussion of ping?
If you enjoy the game. Does it really matter what you have for ping?

Trooper, please try going into the server again. There is only one way to know if the first time was a one-off...that's to go back and try it again. There was an internet attack occurring the night we had the test...it affected everyone. You need to go back and check it out.

Lin,

I was in today and got a steady 200 ping, whay better than before and no conections problems or lag, must say that server was empty. Anyway it was now playable.

Thank you for the tip.
