Is there a way to fix grenade spam?

It is known that admins can't be on and monitoring everyone 24/7, but one problem that I personally find to be detrimental is grenade spam. Is there a way to fix grenade spam without having admins always having to watch it? Maybe make the ammo boxes not reload grenades?

I don't like to complain about a server I have had so much fun in; however, this morning I had some free time and decided to play but was forced to leave because one player was throwing grenades non stop. I was unable to move once I spawned in or I would die. I tried several time, but it got to the point where I wasn't playing at all.

So, that got me wondering. Is there a realistic way to fix a problem without having to have more admins doing more work?

Nade spam was an issue since beguining of the game, I don´t know if there is a MOD available for it.

Shame to nade spamers, do you remember that player name/nick.

I don't know what the players name was. I was focused on killing the player, but every time I stepped out of the bunker he continued to rain grenades. Even before I was stepping out I could see them coming down.

I realize it isn't a matter of extreme importance. I do know that it ruined the game enough for me that it made me quit for awhile, and I am afraid something like that may happen to others as well. This game is old and this is a really great server that still supports such a great game. I think it would be unfortunate to see someone new to the game get so buried by spam that they quit and never come back.

It made me think that I have heard on YouTube videos that some servers used to mod out grenades in ammo boxes. So, I just thought that bringing up the idea might spark some thoughts. I don't have any idea how difficult it is to mod things server side so it may be way more difficult than it's worth. But, it may also help out admins that already have so much on their plate.

I think they can limit each player to 3 nades. Only way to get 3 more nades is to die and respawn.

Thanks derraucher. I don't even think to look for a thread like that from many moons ago. Ven after a year here I'm still findin new things.

This discussion is so old like the game self. There are ways to limit/remove nades.
But the thing, most of the players want nades... no one want to fight for kills.

After playing a game for many years that only allows you 1-2 (mostly one) grenade...without reload...it is a MUCH better game for it. You have to really consider when you are going to use that 1-2 grenade(s), and because of this you get much better gameplay. Yes, I realize BF has equipment (tanks etc) that infantry needs to be able to blow up...so pair up with a zooker and work as teams.

Changing nades to 1 per pack will crash the server, it doesn't work. We CAN change to 2 per pack and slow the ammo box loading, though.

I agree very much, Lin. I wouldn't want to completely get rid of a piece of equipment because they are all vital to the game. However, when I walk past an ammo box, my grenades instantly reload, but it takes forever to get machine gun clips. Having grenades is great. They are needed in the game. I have also found that there is skill involved in grenades. It seems like someone can throw 1 at me and I will die, but I haven't ever racked up many nade kills. I just don't have the touch.

Having them isn't the problem, I just hate getting stuck and not being able to spawn in and play because someone is able to stand at an ammo box and throw them endlessly.

This isn't the world's biggest problem, and I probably was rather hasty this morning when making the thread. I love this game and there is no way this one thing would cause me to leave for good. However, it did cause me to leave for a time because it was no fun to not play. I'm afraid if something similar happens to a new coming player, they may leave and never come back, and we don't want that. Playing Allies on a 64 player Omaha Beach is too much fun and new players can make that happen!

Nades are a valid weapon if used w/o spam it, yes, I use it when found a well know infantary player that for sure will kill me in a 1 vs 1 gunfight, but this game is about that, do your best to win.

I am a good nades user, but I do not spam them, and that is the point, to know limits and rules in server and don´t break them. So is playable for all in, for me a nade spammer is as same harmfull for the game that a base camper, ironicaly base camping is allowed.....

Nades are essential, but sometimes there are too many. bit annoying when its 1v1 with no one around and the enemy used his 3 nades before pull out gun. They are good when you round a corner and there are 4 enemies.

Oh and ammo box reload is only way me kill the enemy tankers.

TEAMWORK !? You must be crazy! :D hehehe I hope this works too, I love working together!
But like yesterday, there was a tank camper on berlin. (the modded version, flag over bridge). Me and twillight quickly realized, there wasen't much to do. They had all the flags except bridge, and the guy was just spawncamping in the heavy tank. Spawn, die, spawn, die, spawn, die..
We need to review the tanks on there too, either put 1 heavy tank on each team or put a regular one. But that's another topic. ;)

I remember that game !! you where in too, a guy from 45 clan complaining a lot about it, for me is not same to do what I was doing in Santa Crocce with the 110 and after that with the 109, as one enemy camp with a tank exactely where is know players spawn, why ?? because you can stand still with a tank and with a plane is not possible to stand stil, with a plane you need to atack, pass, and avoid enemy aa or machine guns shooting at you, also a good zoker can kill you.

Same statements I had before when with mosquito at Husky, is just I am a good bomber and in RTR im proud to say one of the best out there, why ? cause as i said before I was part of the best ranked RTR clan long ago.

For example, a camp move was, long ago in Battle of Britain, an allie steal a JUB88 and stop it at end of axis runway and use the twin back machine guns to kill all axis in the hangers and out, also as runway refill ammo it was an endless camp, i knew how to do it but never did... why ? that is camping !! no chance to enemy to stop it, ofcourse aventualy one zoker can hit you, but a tank need if no at back more than a zoka to be destroyed.

back to what is this thread about, nade spamming is bad for the game, period ! tank camping or camping a flag if not a plane, is too, period ! :D

I didn't really see a problem with you camping in a plane. It really does the same thing, but it isn't against the rules. Someone spamming grenades is breaking the rules to gain an unfair advantage over those following the rules.

I don't mind being bested by someone. I know you and many others like you are far better pilots than I am infantry. If I lose to superior skill, so be it. If I was good enough I could do the same thing right back to you. I am not supposed to spam grenades and because I follow that rule, it can seem like being punished by those not following it.
