Hello,

Quite often when I go to join a get a message "CD Key in Use", so far I've taken this as a sign to go and do some work instead and accepted what is. Way back in 2002 I used to have the CD in the drive to play the game, then I ripped the CD and mounted the image. More recently I've 'upgraded' to the henk patch and did away with the disc mounting - excellent.

I am pretty certain I know the issue is using the patch, but not sure what the right solution is. I don't want to go back to having to mount a CD image and the henk patch is pretty good as it has other upgrades. I still have my original key from all those years ago.

How are you folks managing this, or is my CD key issue something else? I've checked and my CD key isn't even loaded in the registry so it's obviously doing something else.

All the best

Rob

On 64 bit Windows, BF1942 looks for the serial key in this reg key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\ergc

It's possible, that your BF1942 serial key is located in this reg key instead of the reg key above. This reg key is the one that 32 bit Windows OSes such as Windows XP use.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\ergc

The BF1942 serial key is stored as an alphanumeric string value that is 22 characters in length and does not include dashes or any symbols.

It means you're on a public hash that is shared by other players. It would be best to establish your own. I don't know the technical piece of how to do that, but Nicole probably will. ;)

Thanks for the responses.

Addressing the point on the registry it's empty, when I say my key isn't loaded. What I mean is game is running as though it is standalone with nothing in the registry at all. So I figured from this it is simply using something else and not my key. I assume the hash/key data is loaded within executable of the patch I have (henk). I am happy to try alternatives/options just after a bit of direction.

I sent you a PM in the forum.

My game just started doing this same thing after I played earlier in the day.  Any ideas?
