Hi MoonGamers,
When I played off hours with the night crew, there was an issue. Some maps in rotation are basically impossible to play when population drops to 6v6 or 7v7. And last night we didn't even have bot to distract us, not sure why.
What happens is on some maps we play musical chairs, run around capturing undefended flags from each other. But on Iwo Jima we basically couldn't play and instead made jokes until timer ran out.
Allies were unable to capture any flags, even the beach wasn't possible. Allies had 2 players in the ships, 2 pilots to counter their 2 pilots and that left 2 or 3 to actually make the landing, and it was just impossible with a tank and infi defending. Pilots also tried bailing but axis occupied all the tanks and with air support they got killed before flags changed from white to captured. Thus the match was a couple of infy dropping somewhere, a bit of action, then several minutes of nothing until everything respawns and next attempts gets underway.
I wanted to suggest that we add some intelligence to the map rotation. More specifically skip maps that are too big when server population is low, let's discuss how many are needed for each map and compare to that figure.
On the technical side I did a bit of research and at a glance it appears easy. Game has everything we need, ability to query user population and ability to skip maps in rotation with just a console command to setnextmap, and rotation continues from that map onwards.
Let me know whether you like the idea and whether or not it's worth the trouble to implement.
